Weeks 5-9
November 2008
The first tier of the abutments is poured with concrete and the forms are stripped,
revealing the concrete towers that will eventually support a bridge over the creek.
Soil is back-filled and the second tier of the abutments begins to be formed.
The bridge will mount into the L-shaped structure of the second tiers.
Erosion control materials and a dewatering line are set up to keep the site dry while
the creek channel between the abutments is restored with native rock. The new grade will not block steelhead migration.
During the first major rains of the season, the creek returnsnormal flow through the restored channel.
The work sites are protected from erosion with straw rolls
